VIAJE POR INDIA DE SHERLOCK HOLMES

 

Todas las paredes están pegadas con tortas de estiércol de vaca,

¿has visto?

Cada torta de estiércol de vaca contiene profundas huellas dactilares.

 

¿Te has dado cuenta, querido Watson?

Estas huellas dactilares son las pistas principales

para mi investigación en este país.

Dime, Watson,

 

a partir de este extraño registro mural de huellas dactilares

hecho de excrementos y luz del sol,

—cada reborde de las cuales revela

el inmenso pesar de mujeres famélicas—

¿qué deducción puedes hacer

de crimen, lento envenenamiento, insolación y Dios?

SHERLOCK HOLMES’ INDIA TRIP

 

All the walls are pasted with cow-dung cakes, you see.

Every cow-dung cake contains deep fingerprints.

 

Have you noticed, my dear Watson?

These fingerprints are the central clues

for my investigation in this country.

Tell me, Watson,

 

from this bizarre wall-record of fingerprints

made of excreta and sunlight—

every ridge of which reveals

the immense sorrow of famished women—

what deduction can you make

of crime, slow-poisoning, sunstroke and God?—
