    Madre

    ¿por qué está riendo el río?

 

¿Por qué? Porque el sol le hace cosquillas.

 

    Madre

    ¿por qué está cantando el río?

 

Porque la alondra alaba la voz del río.

 

    Madre

    ¿por qué está frío el río?

 

Recuerda que una vez la nieve lo amó.

 

    Madre

    ¿cuántos años tiene el río?

 

Los mismos que la siempre joven primavera.

 

    Madre

    ¿por qué nunca descansa el río?

 

Bien, verás, porque su madre la mar

está esperando que regrese a casa.

Why, because the sun is tickling the river.

    why is the river singing?

 

Because the skylark praised the river's voice.

 

    Mother,

    why is the river cold?

 

It's remembers being once loved by the snow.

 

    Mother,

    how old is the river?

 

It's the same age as the forever young springtime.

 

    Mother,

    why does the river never rest?

 

Well, you see it's because the mother sea

is waiting for the river to come home.
