Apilad los cadáveres en Austerlitz y Waterloo.

Enterradlos y dejadme hacer mi trabajo;

soy la hierba, lo cubro todo.

 

Y apiladlos en Gettysburg

y apiladlos en Ypres y Verdún.

Enterradlos y dejadme hacer mi trabajo.

Dos años, diez años, y los pasajeros preguntan al conductor:

"¿Qué lugar es éste?"

"¿Dónde estamos ahora?"

 

Soy la hierba.

Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo.

Shovel them under and let me work—

I am the grass; I cover all.

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:

What place is this?

Where are we now?
