CANCIÓN

 

Cuando esté muerta, amor mío,

canciones tristes por mí no entones;

no plantes rosas junto a mi cabecera

ni frondoso ciprés:

sé la hierba verde sobre mí,

con lluvias y gotas de rocío mójame:

y si te marchitas, recuerda,

y si te marchitas, olvida.

No veré las sombras,

no sentiré la lluvia;

no oiré el ruiseñor

cantar como si sufriese:

y soñando a través del crepúsculo

que no nace ni se pone

felizmente tal vez te recuerde

y felizmente tal vez te olvide.

When I am dead, my dearest,

Sing no sad songs forme;

Plant thou no roses at my head,

Nor shady cypress tree:

Be the green grass above me

With showers and dewdrops wet:

And if thou wilt, remember,

I shall not hear the nightingale

Sing on as if in pain:

And dreaming through the twilight
