a llorar?" Todavía no, pero está
caminando arriba y abajo

Cuando le ofrecen partes del cuerpo—
brazo, mano, hombro, regazo,
pecho, corazón—
la viuda silenciosa, la amputada,
se levanta para abrazar
a sus posibles donantes.

La viuda de pocas lágrimas
suelta una

le habría dicho a él.

walking back and forth in
coastal waters
which are composed
entirely of tears.

When she is offered body parts—
arm, hand, shoulder, lap,
breast, heart—
the quiet widow, the amputee,
rises to embrace
her would-be donors.

The widow of few tears
releases one
into the steaming pot.
"Taste this soup",
she would have been saying to him.
"Does it need more salt?"
