Desprendo la noche
de la carne del sol muerto
y como si fuese un pañuelo
me envuelvo con ella
la cabeza.

Cuando fui a buscarte
extendí mis alas sobre la ciudad
construida con negras, abandonadas piedras,
encontré un árbol y me posé en sus ramas
y grité de dolor.
Toda mujer conoce su propio árbol.
Esa noche, crucé una ciudad
tan negra que la oscuridad
temía entrar en ella.
Mi alma estaba sola
sin su sombra.
Grité.

I peel night
from the dead sun's flesh
and like a scarf
wrap it round
my head

EVERY WOMAN KNOWS HER OWN TREE
EVERY WOMAN KNOWS HER OWN TREE
When I looked for you
I spread my wings over the city
built of black, abandoned stones,
found a tree and perched on its boughs
and shrieked with pain.
Every woman knows her own tree.
That night, I crossed a city
so black that darkness
feared to enter it.
My soul was lonely
without its shadow.
I howled
