LA TIERRA LLORA

 

ella no llora por agua

ella hace fluir ríos profundos

ella no llora por comida

ella ha amamantado árboles

ella no llora por ropa

ella teje cuanto lleva puesto

ella no llora por cobijo

ella cultiva juncos por todas partes

ella no llora por niños

ella tiene más de los que puede concebir

ella no llora por un cielo

ella sabe que éste siempre está ahí

no sabes por qué está llorando

cuando lo tiene todo

cómo podrías saber que llora

por un solo ser humano

EARTH CRIES

 

she doesn't cry for water

she runs rivers deep

she doesn't cry for food

she has suckled trees

she doesn't cry for clothing

she weaves all that she wears

she doesn't cry for shelter

she grows thatch everywhere

she doesn't cry for children

she's got more than she can bear

she doesn't cry for heaven

she knows it's always there

you don't know why she's crying

when she's got everything

how could you know she's crying

for just one humane being
