Oh, manos heridas del amor

Oh, rostro alado

Oh, cuerpo arraigado

En vestido desnudo encerrado

Con una faja de silencio en torno a la cintura

Y baratijas multicolores alrededor del cuello

Oh, alma corpórea

Por amor liberada:

El sol abraza el desierto

Y el desierto su oasis

Mientras que una vida entera

Que varía del principio al fin

Se contiene a sí misma

PRIMAVERA

 

En estos días sombríos, provisionales, cuando

cada pequeña planta tímidamente asoma la cabeza

por encima de la tierra y

vuelve a esconderla rápidamente si uno

la observa, impacientes mis

deseos llegan hasta el crepitante verano, el amor;

excesivo, confiado verano

cuando nada se niega y

nada se oculta.

O love bruised hands

O winged face

O rooted body

In naked dress encased

With silent girdle round the waist

And full toned trinkets round the throat

O bodied soul

By love set free-

The sun embraces the desert

And the desert its oasis

While a whole life

That varies from beginning to end

Contains itself.

SPRING

 

In these dull tentative days when

every little plant timidly pokes her

head out of the ground and

quickly withdraws again if one

observes her - impatiently my

desire reaches toward the full-

blown summer, the love-

steeped, confident summer

when nothing is denied and

nothing withheld.
