ATARDECER

 

La luz pasa

de una cima a otra

de una flor a otra

los trifolios, dispersos

bajo la luz desfallecen

los pétalos se doblan hacia adentro

las azules puntas se curvan

hacia el corazón más azul

y las flores se pierden.

 

Los brotes del cornejo todavía son blancos

pero las sombras se lanzan

desde sus raíces

el negro se arrastra de una raíz a otra,

cada hoja

corta/recorta otra hoja en la hierba

la sombra busca sombra,

entonces ambas la hoja

y su sombra se pierden.

EVENING

 

The light passes

from ridge to ridge,

from flower to flower

the hypaticas, wide-spread

under the light grow faint

the petals reach inward,

the blue tips bend

toward the bluer heart

and the flowers are lost.

 

The cornel-buds are still white,

but shadows dart

from the cornel-roots

black creeps from root to root,

each leaf

cuts another leaf on the grass,

shadow seeks shadow,

then both leaf

and leaf-shadow are lost.
