Todo el mundo tiene un futuro

pero algunos más que otros

 

Lucia ha llenado siete baldes

con aceite

oscuro, denso y difícil

de llevar para una chica

que sólo cuenta con sus dos brazos y un balancín

 

Mi tía dice “No te preocupes tanto

por tu futuro”

pero mi futuro

-no hay más que uno-

mi futuro escucha esto

y se hace cada vez más claro

Everyone has a future

but some have more than others

 

Lucia has made seven for herself

pails full of oil

all dark and density and difficult

for a girl to carry

with two arms and a yoke

 

Auntie says "Do not worry so

much over your future"

buy my future

-there is only one-

my future is heard this

and is become loud
