LOS GORRIONES Y YO
Cantaba una triste canción
En las delgadas ramas de mis dedos
Después se fue volando
Ni siquiera el gorrión
Amará
A una mujer
Cuyos secretos se los lleva el viento.

POETA
Me convertí en poeta una noche
en que la luna
había caído en el pozo del olvido
—con gran facilidad—
Le lancé la delgada cuerda de mi imaginación
y la saqué.

THE SPARROWS AND I
It sang a sad song
On the thin branches of my fingers
It then flew away
Not even the sparrow
Will love
A woman
Whose secrets are open to the wind.

POET
I became a poet on a night
when the moon
had fallen in the well of oblivion
– very easily –
I threw the thin rope of my imagination to it
and pulled it out.
