Las conversaciones telefónicas
son pequeñas vidas.
Su humor y su temperatura
descienden y suben y descienden.
Cada una es Nueva.
Se produce el nacimiento,
con facilidad o dificultad.
La criatura prospera o se debilita.
Canta. Solloza.
Cojea. Se adormece.
Pero de pronto
(a veces)
una Inminencia de Luz.
Cintas de fuego y música.
Un transporte democrático.

Telephone conversations
are little lives.
Their tempers and temperatures
fall and get up and fall.
Each one is New.
There is the birth-
easy or difficult.
The little baby prospers or declines.
Sings. Sobs.
Limps. Lulls.
But suddenly
(sometimes)
an Imminence of Light.
Ribbons of fire and music.
A democratic transportation.
