LA COLECCIÓN

 

Tu promesa es el pétalo de rosa que en el alféizar

recuerda el jardín.

 

Lo hago girar como a un interruptor

y capto algo más:

una ventana empañada, clara tristeza.

Una lágrima, humedeciendo tu labio.

 

Es invierno y tu abrigo cruje.

Te encuentro bajo los sedimentos,

rígida como una monja, cálida.

 

Ahora te hablaré de mi promesa,

cómo guardo los pétalos

con precisión filatélica.

THE COLLECTION

 

Your promise is the rose petal on the sill

remembering the garden.

 

I turn it, like a tried ignition,

and catch something else:

a window fog, clear sadness.

A tear, moist on your lip.

 

It's winter and your coat squeaks.

I find you under the layers,

stiff as a nun, warm.

 

Now I will tell you about my promise,

how I keep the petals

with philatelic precision.
